Abstract:

The genus Aframomum (Zingiberaceae) is revised within the area covered by the Flora of West Tropical Africa, and 24 spp. are recognized. A. elegans sp. nov. from Mt. Nimba is described. The combination A. subsericeum ssp. glaucophyllum (K. Schum.) J.M. Lock (Amomum glaucophyllum) is made. Three other species, whose type material was destroyed or is inadequate, are also discussed.
